Vacancy: Project Officer (Love Alliance Project)

For our key populations team we are looking for a Project Officer for 32 hours a week.

Aidsfonds - Soa Aids Nederland is working towards a world where no one dies of AIDS anymore and where people are sexually healthy, so that everyone can love freely and without fear. We do this together with the people who are hardest hit by STIs and HIV because of discrimination and exclusion. We strengthen their voice and support them with information, knowledge and financing. For the love of all loves. We are working on this in the Netherlands and in 15 countries worldwide.

The International Department is responsible for funding community-led action to increase access to health and rights and conducting global advocacy towards these aims. We focus on communities of populations living with or affected by HIV (including LGBTIQ+ people, sex workers, people who use drugs, youth, women and children) in ten countries and two regions worldwide.

Project Officer (Love Alliance Project)

What does the team do and what are you going to do

The Love Alliance (2021-2025) brings together organisations led by communities most affected by HIV and AIDS. From across Africa thought leaders (GALZ, SANPUD, Sisonke), grant-makers (UHAI EASHRI, AFE, ISDAO) and the global network of people living with HIV (GNP+) have joined forces. The Love Alliance aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of PWUD, LGBTIQ people and sex workers, including advocating against gender inequality and other forms of inequity, injustices and criminalization; demanding equity and inclusion in access to health and justice, including comprehensive SRHR and HIV services for all.

Aidsfonds is the administrative lead of the Love Alliance and coordinates the administration of the alliance, including monitoring the progress of the implementation of the full programme proposal, financial management, and reporting to our donor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • To coordinate and implement the Love Alliance Participatory Action Research agenda working close alliance partners and in this work closely with consultants and academics
  • To facilitate and coordinate the Love Alliance small innovation and strategic grants with alliance partners
  • Together with the administrative team monitor the progress on plans and budgets of diverse partners and contribute to the Love Alliance planning and reporting cycles
  • To support in the project management of the Hague-related advocacy activities, including reporting and planning
  • To provide support of one of our advocacy project being implemented in the Netherlands.

You are

A person that considers issues from different perspectives and in doing so establishes connections with the communities we work with: people living with HIV, young people, children, LGBTQ+, current and former sex workers, current and former drug users, because you can draw on your own experience or have had close encounters with members of these communities. And you have

  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, the international playing field, and in particular of the specific issues facing key populations
  • Research and Knowledge management facilitating decision making
  • Project planning, management, financial management and reporting
  • Proven track record on grant making and innovation for and working with key populations
  • Naturally works in a collaborative way, and promote the principles of servant leadership
  • Flexible, creative, independent, communicative as competencies
  • Academic study level
  • You are fluent in English communication skills, able (or willing to learn) to read and understand Dutch. Communication skills in Portuguese would be appreciated
  • You are based in the Netherlands.
