NL4Cure is a joint initiative between Dutch parties that are committed to accelerating a cure of HIV. Scientific research has led to major breakthroughs in the fight against HIV and AIDS. But there is currently no cure for people living with HIV. Through research can we accelerate our quest to finding a cure. NL4Cure consists of representatives of people living with HIV, researchers from Dutch universities, HIV nurses and physicians, the HIV Monitoring Foundation and Aidsfonds. Aidsfonds coordinates the partnership.
NL4Cure is in its start-up phase. One of the first activities is to create a joint research agenda. This process started in October 2018 and will continue until the beginning of 2019. The research agenda may in the future give direction to researchers and policy makers and may also encourage other parties to commit themselves to accelerate finding a cure for HIV. In order to draw up this research agenda, researchers, people with HIV, HIV nurses and HIV physicians are working together with Aidsfonds as coordinator of the process. There is now a first version of this research agenda and we would like to have your input.
We would gladly receive input from the field on the agenda. To organize this input on the research agenda in a structured manner, we organize this internet consultation. We would be pleased to hear from you if you miss important themes and/or if you are providing improvements. We are also very interested in the underlying considerations in specific comments, suggestions and ideas. The core group will look at the submissions and make a decision whether adjustments to the text will improve the document. The final document is expected to be published in the spring of 2019.

The research agenda is intended as a relatively concise document that reflects the research that should be carried out in the Netherlands to accelerate a cure for HIV for people with HIV in the coming five to ten years. The aim is to create a prioritized research agenda that shows the involvement of people with HIV in all aspects. It should reflect the strengths of the Netherlands and contain high-quality and efficient research and encourage others to participate in the initiative. In addition, it must fit in with the national and international context.
The agenda is by no means intended to give a complete overview of the Dutch HIV Cure research, but rather a comprehensive selection of which research must be invested in to accelerate the development of a cure in the coming years. We ask you to fill in the consultation with this framework in mind.
